The founder of Lohan martial arts


GM Lohan Sifu has dedicated his life to the study and teaching of our rare martial arts and health practices. Here is a timeline showing some of Lohan Sifu’s advances in the world of martial arts & wellbeing. 

  • 1976 - Born

  • 1980 - 1996 (age 4 - 20 years) learnt Japanese & Korean martial arts, western boxing, yoga, massage, spiritualism and palm reading

  • 1996 - 1998 Hung Sing Choy Lay Fut with Richard Papworth student of Lee Koon Hung

  • 1998 - Joined the Plum Blossom International Federation

 
 
 
  • 1999 - Won title of Grand Champion at the Plum Blossom International Federation European Championship hosted in the Netherlands

  • 1999 - Traveled to San Francisco, Poland and China to learn

  • 1999 - 2000 Mentored by Dai Si-hing Brian Huffman (former instructor at DFWMAC, living in London)

  • 2000 - Awarded black sash by GM. Doc-fai Wong

  • 2001 - Founded the Hung Sing Martial Arts Schools

  • 2001 - Became official student of GM. Doc-Fai Wong

  • 2001 - 2002 Traveling with and learning from GM DFW in Poland, San Francisco, Spain, London, etc

  • 2003 - June - Tested and passed the PBIF Black Fringe. First person in UK to pass this and became the highest rank PBIF member in Europe

  • Traveling to learn from DFW and assist in teaching Italian members in Rome

  • 2004 - Visited the Shaolin Temple

  • 2004 - Won two silver medals at the 1st World Traditional Wushu Tournament in Zhengzhou, China

  • 2004 - 2006 Followed GM DFW learning and acting as assistant instructor in his European seminars

  • 2004 - Magazine article in Budo international

  • 2006 - Won 4th place in the Worlds largest Tai Chi and Pushing hand tournament held in Taipei, Taiwan

  • 2006 - Money raised for the restoration of Chan Heung's Residence in King Mui, Xinhui, China

  • 2006 - Sent students to demonstrate and represent him at the 155th anniversary of the founding of the Futsan branch of Choy Li Fut school. Futsan, Guangdong, China

  • Students sent to demonstrate at the grand opening of the Jiangmen Choy Li Fut Kung Fu Association. Jiangmen (Kong Moon city of China)

  • 2008 - Takes a team to compete in the PBIF tournament, San Francisco, being guest judge for advanced level forms and his students won gold in light middle and heavyweight pushing hands divisions.

  • 2009 - Represented CLF with GGM Wong Gong, at the "Martial Arts World Leaders Forum" in Macao

  • 2009 - Traveling in China with GM Doc-fai Wong

  • 2009 - Became the disciple of Chan Sun Chiu (Keeper of King Mui Choy Li Fut) - then became a 5th Generation of Choy Li Fut - The Keeper granted him the title of Grandmaster

  • 2010 - GM Lohan Sifu’s top two (students at the time) tested under DFW for the black fringe level. He was given the title of Tai-Sifu, ranking him in the top five PBIF members

 
  • 2011 - Lohan Sifu sent a team to represent his schools at the NEC Birmingham “The martial arts show live”

  • 2012 - This year he joined the Masters demonstration “The martial arts show live” Birmingham NEC

  • 2013 - 22/4/2013 the Keeper Chan Sun Chui passed away. GM became a successor of the 5th generation of the King Mui lineage. Stepped away from PBIF to fully follow the Keepers teachings. Founding 'Lohan Martial Arts' in honour of the Keeper

  • 2013 - 'El Budoka' martial arts journal interview and front cover

  • 2013 - National and international seminars and dragon dance

  • 2014 - UK Seminars and traveling to Sri Lanka on a pilgrimage to visit the tooth of the Buddha relic and cave temples

  • 2015 - UK Seminars

  • 2016 - International and UK Seminars

  • 2017 - Pilgrimage to the Three Mountains of Dewa (出羽三山 Dewa Sanzan)Japan, learning an old form of Shinrin-yoku walking in nature

  • 2017 - Updated qualifications in sport injury assessment and treatments

  • 2017 - UK Seminars and awards

2018 - Chinese new year lion dance seminar
